88-note Solodant Rolls by Otto Higel Co.
By Steve Bentley

I have five Otto Higel (Toronto) piano rolls. One is a long-play roll,
around 8 minutes, titled "Broadway 1911 Medley Overture", roll number
0647, 10 tunes. This is an excellent roll in good condition that
features the Broadway show tunes of 1911. Another roll is "Blaze Away"
march & two step that really gives the piano an extremely good "workout!

All of the five rolls have the words "Solodant" and' "Tempoaid" printed
on the labels. Can anyone tell me of the "Solodant" system? There are
perforations on one single row on both treble and bass edges. The bass
holes are just to the right of the sustaining pedal perforations. The
treble holes are near the 87-88 note holes. It appears that a player
piano with this feature will have to be 'on-board'.

They have good quality paper for the rolls. I obtained these from the
late Doyle Lane when he had his operation/store in Vancouver, B.C., in
the 1970s.
