Regina Disc Compatibility Discovery
By Kevin McElhone

As readers will know, I am continuing to research disc musical boxes and
have recently made this interesting discovery. Yesterday I received
a trial disc from Renaissance Discs here in the UK which was punched
from a Regina / Polyphon tuning scale but was cut with a peripheral
edge drive which has scoops suitable for the rare Triumph / Monarch
model made in U.S.A. I am pleased to report that the disc plays on my
machine so there is now a source of a lot of additional music for these
rare models.

I would also like to appeal again for help as I am still collecting
serial numbers and dates of disc players. (The date is sometimes
pencilled inside the case or on the spring rivet.) This will enable me
to work out how many of particular makes and sizes were made.

I have found about 930 additional serial numbers since the book was
published but find it impossible to find all machines that come up for
auction world-wide. I would appreciate it is anyone who has instruments
in their collection but has not submitted details could contact me.
If you wish to do this anonymously you can use the enquiry form on my
website rather than by e-mail.

Many thanks,
Kevin McElhone
