Reproducing Fair Organ Animated Figures
By Robert Weismantel

Recently Mr. Lawrence McGowan asked about reproducing figures for his
project. As this is a new instrument, modern materials may be a cost
effective solution. Have you considered using a 3D scanner and
printer?

If you can borrow some existing figures, you will be able to scan them
and then print in a variety of materials. I've seen working shifting
spanners and other objects with moving parts from a 3D printer and the
results were very good. I would expect you can edit the design to make
your figures unique.

Our university's School of Engineering is currently researching 3D
printing technology.
