Servicing the Ampico "A" Drawer & Power Switch
By Bob Taylor

Remove the drawer front to service the switch. Once removed, the
switch can be serviced by removing four machine screws.

Drawer fronts are all held in position by four screws near the bottom
of the curved portion of the front. Additionally, end brackets are
attached by screws on the aft-top sides of the drawer front.

After all screws are removed, the front must be dislodged by moving
it in the proper direction to disengage the key slots embedded in
the drawer. The movement direction is not standard. Most of the
time, moving the front towards the bass side works, but that could be
reversed. Some must be moved upward. Gentle pressure or using the
palm of the hand to apply light blows will reveal the correct
direction.

If the switch housing also must be removed, the bass side drawer
panel and frame must be removed to unscrew the cast housing. Finger
expression button tubes must be disconnected as well as all control
handles. This would be unusual as enough wire can be pulled through
the housing to facilitate unscrewing the wires from the terminals.
If the switch is inoperative, little can be done to repair it.
