Player Pianos at Craigslist
By David Dewey

While I'm not in the market (too many projects here already!) I do
like looking at the "FS on the Internet" listings -- you never know
what might lurk there. In case you haven't noticed in the past few
MMDs, there are some unique pieces there. Note: I have _no_ interest
in any of these, except hating to see beautiful pieces go to the dumps.

Euphona player piano -- I can't tell from the photos but these are
usually Cable pianos with a very easily rebuilt stack. This one has
a very unique case with an oval opening for the roll box doors!
Definitely a "show-stopper!"

1927 Cable-Nelson with a beautiful book-matched burl case! Light
walnut maybe? Plain style case, but the wood in magnificent! $100 --
please, someone rescue this!

Eilers Bungalow player piano. I can't tell the stack maker, but what
an incredible Mission-Craftsman case; very unique.

Cable player piano -- description, no photo, but it states "foot pump
or electric" so might be a Recordo; this _could_ be a sleeper for $200.

H W Perlman Recordo electric baby grand player piano -- A grand (very
small one) with a Recordo mechanism.  Looks like never touched, maybe;
definitely a scarce piece. Recordos are actually very good expression
pianos; properly adjusted they can really sound like a reproducing
piano. A bit harder to find rolls, but they're out there. If I can
find them in this rural area with only dial-up Internet, I'm certain
you can find them too!

Now we save the best for last --

Wurlitzer Model YU Photoplayer. Photoplayer -- need one say any
more? This one doesn't have the side cabinets, but apparently comes
with plans for them. Not for the faint of heart, but wowziers - a
Photoplayer! You just need a small theatre and some films! Oh, and
the rolls (they're out there!). Join the ranks of the few, ask one who
owns one! (Okay, I'm mixing marketing slogans here, but I know of one
Photoplayer that went to the dumps, no mechanism left in it, but it was
a genuine Photoplayer made in LA piano, and it was only a few years
ago, hate to see another one go that way!)

So, hope I'm not "cluttering up" the bandwidth, but I'm on a mission:
Save Good Pianos from the Dumps! Play 'em if ya got 'em!
