Player Piano Roll Stutters While Playing

Today I was playing a large roll (Liszt Piano Concerto No. 2) and
about midway through I noticed it started to "struggle" to feed the
roll through the mechanism.  The only way I can describe it is that it
looks like the feed spool is sticking.  Is this a maintenance issue?
