Have you ever heard of a carousel spotter?  The Western Reserve
Historical Society posted a job opening for something they call
a "carousel spotter."  In all my more than a half century of working
on and around carousels I have never encountered that term.  See

From the duties listed, a carousel spotter seems to be a person who
assists the carousel operator in various ways, such as greeting riders,
helping them to get on and off the ride, ensuring that all riders are
on board, safely located, and the carousel is ready to run, enforcing
safety regulations during operation.

All these things are a normal part of good, safe ride operation, but
the term is new to me.  Is carousel spotter purely a local Ohio term
or is it in broader use?
