Ridiculous Prices on Piano Rolls
By Matthew Caulfield

Why is Luke Myers so worked up about the prices being asked for old
piano rolls? Granted that a run-of-the-mill 88-note roll isn't worth
much, but it is true that certain types of rolls can command serious
prices. A roll played by Zez Confrey or a hard-to-find rousing march
roll can be very sought after. And of course specialty rolls like
Welte can be a whole different ball game.

Dan Wilke used to run the QRS roll auction department, a one-man
operation in the attic of the QRS roll-manufacturing plant in Buffalo,
New York. Dan is the man to ask about the reality of old piano roll
prices. Anyone can ask whatever price he wants for a batch of piano
rolls, but that does not mean he will get the price he wants.

So Luke's examples given in his complaint posted to the 15.12.20 MMD
don't mean much.

Keep calm, Luke.
