I have a 1928 Ampico in process of restoration. The sharps are wooden
with a plastic wrap. The plastic is still sound and well glued, but
it looks 'dry, aged' etc. -- not brittle, just rather dull. I cleaned
a couple with denatured alcohol, which left a whitish haze. Has anyone
out there dealt with this?
I suppose black lacquer would revive them, if it's not too hot so that
it distorts the plastic. I'm going carefully as these might be
celluloid? Any advice will be gladly received.
