Repairing Stripped Screw Threads in Wood
By Bill Chapman

Still another thought on stripped screw holes. A friend who builds
and restores pipe organs suggested filling the screw hole with steel
wool or brass equivalent. The thought is that the steel wool would be
expanded by the screw and press against the wood. It sounded logical
and I tried it a couple times. I don't recommend it -- unless someone
has found a technique that does the trick.
