The best guess I can come up with is that at some point, someone
decided to drill those extra holes in the tracker bar, for which reason
we may never know.  Those holes do not look original to me.

Unless those holes are where someone inserted new nipples behind them,
and connected the corresponding "note hose" to each, in the theoretical
situation of the original "note hole" nipples being damaged or bent.

I don't think the above is very likely.  My overall idea is that those
holes have and never did have any purpose whatsoever.
