Ampico Rewind Problem
By Ben Gottfried

Dave Krall asks why an Ampico does not cut out on rewind.

The action cut-out is signaled by the opening of the hole in the

transmission which, in turn, vents the re-roll primary valve in the

drawer and the action cut-out block by the pump.

Have the owner try disconnecting the large 3/16" tube between the drawer

and the stack at the extreme treble end. There is only one 3/16" tube; it

is near the three 3/8" drawer supply tubes.

The action should cut out once this is done. If so, then the problem is

in the drawer; if not, then the problem is between there and the action

cut-out block in the back, maybe even in the block itself.

For starters though, this basic test is the place to begin.

Let us know how you make out
