"Pictures At An Exhibition" On Piano Rolls
By Grahame Code

I have the Duo-Art rolls played by Prokofieff:

  6591 - Bydlo & Ballet ...
  7029 - Promenade & An Old Castle

7029 was issued by Keystone. 6591 was issued by Artona Studios in
Ramsgate, England, when it was owned by Gordon Iles.

I also have the Duo-Art set made in 1981:

  "Complete - Pictures at an Exhibition, 42917A & 42917B"

The "Complete Pictures at an Exhibition" (the American set) was the
brain child of some enthusiastic AMICAN's in the late 1970's. I think
Ian Mavor may have been one but I am unsure of the group. Others may
have clearer memories of the project.

Anyway, John Malone at Play-Rite supported the project and cut the
rolls; that's how I obtained my copies. I do not think they were
'hand played' but the persons tried very hard at that time.

What I would really like is Licensee adaptations of Welte 2165 & 2166.
These are Red Welte rolls, played by G. Romanowsky and recorded in
Russia in 1910.
