Cost Of 4-minute 30-note Musical Box Tune
By Craig Smith

[ Ref. 190311 MMDigest ]

Hi again, In the box with that 30-note paper strip music movement
were four mounting screws, an appropriate 4.5 volt wall wart AC
adapter, a socket for connecting the wall wart, and a replacement
for one of the worm gears. I didn't see the reviews but, apparently,
the seller did. I'm going to apply a bit of worm gear grease and
cross my fingers.

In an effort to ingratiate myself with the clock and antique people
along with Mr. Kinsler, I'd suggest that he add a simple start/stop
lever. This lever would short across that end-of-tune switch on the
30-note movement. Then add a clock-winding crank on a tight shaft to
'wind it up' whenever you are in the mood. Now, I wonder how large
a box will be needed to enclose 4 minutes worth of punched paper or
cardboard music -- about 16 feet.

By the way, I couldn't find any maker's name on the music movement.
Also, it takes about 20 minutes to punch out a tune on one of the
pre-printed tune sheets.

Regards from Rochester, New York, where it's supposed to get up to
60 degrees F. today.
