Universities With Mechanical Music Collections
By Ken Gordon

In reply to Ann Donoghue's question about piano information at
Universities [190316 MMDigest], the University of Maryland at College
Park, Maryland, has an extensive collection about piano recordings,
including player piano rolls and recordings -- but not about pianos
themselves or piano industry. For example, it has over 3000 player
piano rolls. Its stated description is

> The International Piano Archives at Maryland [IPAM] is a unique
> resource for the study, appreciation, and preservation of the
> classical piano repertoire and its performance. IPAM's collections
> comprise the world's most extensive concentration of piano
> recordings, books, scores, programs and related materials,
> including the archival papers of many great keyboard artists.
