I've been following the thread about WD40.  My experience with the
stuff goes back a long way -- it's very good at stopping squeaks on
door hinges, etc.

One day a while ago I used it on my collection of model aero engines,
and sprayed it into the inlet of one of the glow-plug type engines
to let it permeate into the engine to keep rust at bay.

Just as an experiment I connected the engine to a battery and flicked
the propeller.  I was surprised when the engine started and ran for
a second or two.  It was apparent that the WD40 was flammable enough
to act as fuel.

About a year later I tried turning one of those engines over and found
it to be completely seized.  Since then my WD40 is only used on squeaky
door hinges!
