Restoring a Bijou Orchestrone
By Owen Christiansen

Firstly, I wish to thank Craig Smith and Carl Wright for their help
on this endeavor. You both had good information for me. The scale
listed by Carl Wright does match the reed layout of my instrument.

When initially checking the unit out for valve action and leaks,
I made a serious oversight in that I did not activate the valves
from the tracker bar -- I simply tested from the holes on the valve
board to the valves. Indeed the problem showed up when I tested
right from the tracker bar. Many leaks. I removed the wood block
and re-glued it, to no avail. Yes, I used hide glue.

Thanks to Ken and Greg Volk, I had another Orchestrone (totally
un-restored) and supplying vacuum to it, it sounded _way_ more normal,
so I will rebuild it, returning to the current leaky one in the future.

Thank you again, guys, for your help.
