Review of American Pickers Episode Sept. 9th
By Dale F. Rowe

Greetings! The first half of the American Pickers episode that
aired Monday, September 9th, featured a clock collector in Oregon.
The collection consists of numerous types of clocks, from smallest
to largest.

Interspersed throughout the facilities are a huge number of various
mechanical music machines, comprised of instruments by all the major
instrument makers: Seeburg, Wurlitzer, 'Operators' Coinola, Mills,
Peerless, etc. Most notable of the instruments are Seeburg Style
'H', Coinola 'X', Mills' Violano Virtuoso, Wurlitzer PianOrchestra
and Style 153 Band Organ & Automatic Harp.

There is also an Encore Automatic Banjo, and numerous cabinet style
nickelodeons and orchestrions. They even played the rare mahogany
cased Seeburg 'H', but when they did, it sounded as if the music had
been dubbed with electronic music. This was the only instrument
allegedly demonstrated in the show. (In a separate shed, is what
appears to be part of an unknown photoplayer.)

Unfortunately, they did not go into the history or the internal
workings of the various instruments. Even though it turned out to
be a minor let-down, it was still exciting to see so many of these
rare music machines.
