Wurlitzer Band Organ Scale Stick
By Art Reblitz

In response to Matthew Caulfield's question about "E trumpet-on" on
a Wurlitzer 150 band organ scale stick [191219 MMDigest], the German
word "einschalten" (meaning "to turn on") was used on certain scale
sticks for instruments made in Germany.

Given the German background of some of de Kleist's and Wurlitzer's
employees, it's possible that the abbreviation for "einschalten" made
it to some of their scale sticks or tracker scales. Using "O" for
"on" would be vague because it might also stand for "off."

Similarly, certain original B.A.B. scale sticks have abbreviations for
Italian words mixed in with the English words, even though Andy and
Dominick both spoke English.
