Grotrian-Steinweg Upright Ampico in Melbourne
By Rick Alabaster

Information sought on Grotrian-Steinweg Ampico Reproducing Pianos

I recently acquired an upright Grotrian-Steinweg (Model 135) Ampico
reproducing piano made in 1928. It was sold by Carnegie & Sons (the
Australian Agents for the American Piano Company) in Melbourne in
late 1928 or early 1929.

Can anyone provide information on this make? To the best of my
knowledge very few Grotrian-Steinweg Ampico pianos were made and this
one may be the only upright currently known to exist.

Our friend Julian Dyer has been very helpful in providing information
and any further advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards from Sunny Melbourne,
