Ragtime historian and researcher Bryan Cather died suddenly on January
4th, 2020, apparently from a massive pulmonary embolism.  He was 53
years old.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25th at
11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in St. Louis.

In 2004 Cather moved from Arlington, Texas, to St. Louis, Missouri,
where he worked for MMDer Doug Bullock and serviced the player piano
at the Scott Joplin House State Historic Site in St. Louis.  By 2010
he was a board member and then president of the Friends of Scott Joplin
society.  For the Scott Joplin House he commissioned and produced a set
of five new piano rolls of never-before-recorded pieces by Scott Joplin.
