"Silent Night" on Cylinder Boxes
By Daniel Davis

In response to the latest comment on my original post about this
subject, I had already been thinking in my mind that more than likely
this was a special order box due to the broad types of music found on
the 10 tunes. It seems there are at least one from each musical taste
(type of tune) on this box.

I might add, as I am moving on in the restoration process of this
(Pallaird) box, I believe it to be made somewhere around 1884 to 1890
due the patent date of Sept. 1884 stamped on bedplate. Though I do not
know what the tune is yet there is one other tune on sheet just called
"Christmas". I'm not yet sure what this is but I will find out as
I hear it play soon. When a box needs work I do not play it until
restored.

So again I feel very very fortunate to have found such a box and if it
is indeed a special order box it (to me) would be even a rarer find.
Thanks so much.
