Dear MMD, I have been asked to restore a Regina disc musical box,
serial number 40050.  As you can see, the case is a bit distressed!
The Japanned black lacquer decoration has been applied on top of
what appears to be a paper covering that has blue string lines for
decoration(?).

The question is, what was the original decoration?  Was it the
paper covering with blue line decoration or the very expertly
applied black Japanned decoration with applied birds and flowers?

would be gratefully received.  More pictures are available if
