Jerry McBride asked in the 20.06.08 MMD whether anyone knows of someone
who has developed a program to convert piano rolls into a notated
musical score.

Many scanning programs should be able to create MIDI files from piano
rolls and most notation programs can read MIDI files and show them as
a musical score.  However, as can be seen from any source on writing
scores (standard is Elaine Gould's "Behind Bars"), writing a score
that is usable, i.e. for playing or reading, is much more than just
presenting "the right notes." Tradeoffs in the placement of notes and
all those other notations (dynamics, various numbers, whatever) have
to be made, depending on what the score is used for.

Therefore, a good deal of "manual" -- but actually intellectual --
work is needed to create any acceptable score.
