In reading an old article about misconceptions in Ampico systems,
the author states that only one Ampico Model 1A was made, and was
unsatisfactory.

I own one, in its Chickering upright, unaltered from it's original
design.  It was acquired from Marve Freund a decade ago.  I began
the restoration to see why it was so quickly redesigned, but due to
family shifts I may never complete it.  If anyone would like to
take over at this point, it is available.
