Playing the English Steck Half-Duo-Art
By Paul Rumpf

[ Ref. Randy Hayno's question in the 20.07.12 MMD about expression
 [ in a Steck Half-Duo-Art]

Hi Randy, I had one of these. As you say, the piano plays at minimum
level when set to 88 notes. I added a small pneumatic which opened the
level 2 port when set to 88 notes. From memory, this was like opening
a flap valve to the level 2 vacuum line. The Themodist system still
operates however. Opening a snakebite will put full pump suction to
the stack.

My piano had the two sets of changeover valves to allow all 88 notes to
play when switching from Duo-Art. I sold the piano about three years
ago after it had been sitting in my shed, unused, for several years.

I hope this helps a bit. I'm glad you find yours easy to play.
