I'd like to find a good home for 40+ Ampico rolls in good playable
condition.  I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and it would be
great to find an appreciative local home for them, but I can mail
them if you're willing to pay the postage.

The cost?  Other than the postage (if you're not local), you can
determine that on your own after you receive the rolls and then
make that a donation to MMD.
