New Orleans Storyland Carousel Vandalized
By Andrew Lardieri

In the midst of this unpredictable pandemic, a historic and
expensive incident occurred in New Orleans a few days ago.
Apparently some mysterious thief has unfortunately severely
vandalized the 1906 Carmel/Looff mixed carousel with its
Wurlitzer 105 band organ located in Storyland/City Park, New
Orleans, Louisiana.

Park officials have estimated the total cost of damages to the
carousel to be around $10,000 in restoration and repairs. Damages
include a giant rupture on the front of the band organs bass
drum, threatening racial slurs and offensive graffiti on the
animals, chariots and mirrors, as well as other aspects of the park.

A $1,000 reward is being offered by City Park to anyone responsible
for information on the perpetrators leading towards their arrest:
