Seeburg Coin Accumulator Problem Fixed
By Mike Walter

Hi all, I have two Seeburg nickelodeons, an "L" and an "E". Now that
the Christmas season is coming 'round, they will probably get the
opportunity to be played a bit more.

The "E" in our home normally gets the fair amount of usage, but it did
have one glitch which became a bit frustrating. If you dropped in two
nickels, you would only get one play!

After watching the coin accumulator in action for a while, I saw that
both pneumatics on the side and the top, operated the way that they
were designed, and thought that there must be some other thing that was
slightly askew.

I looked at the threaded rod that is attached to the "wooden" gear on
the inside of the accumulator. It has a piece of tracker bar tubing on
it's end, and trips the brass rod to turn the nickelodeon off at the
end of a play.

I wondered what would happen if I increased the size of the rubber
tubing, so I put a small piece of Ampico control tubing over the
tracker bar tubing. After squeezing the new tubing over the tracker
bar tubing, I put two nickels into the machine and I did hear two
selections on the "E" play for the first time!

I shared this information with a friend in Rochester, New York, who
also has an "E" with the same "problem". He just responded that his
"problem' has also disappeared. I thought that I would share this with
other Seeburg owners, who may also experience this particular "glitch".

One word of caution, though. There is 110 VAC in those wires to which
you are playing very close. You may wish to unplug the machine, so you
don't get zapped!

Best wishes for a more festive Holiday Season!
