Hello, Larger models of early Welte orchestrions playing both pinned
barrels and rolls used more then one clockwork motor. From what I have
found, all orchestrions larger then a Style 4 had two clockwork drives.
Larger models may have had more. There is a photo of a Style 10 barrel
orchestrion with what appears to be three clockwork drives, two on the
sides and one in the middle. Credits to Durward Center for photograph.

My question for y'all is the following: when more then one clockwork
drive is present, is more then one used for driving the roll or barrel,
or are all the other drives minus one simply used to pump more feeders?

For me, it makes more sense for one big organ with heavy pinned barrels
to have more then one clockwork drive to more efficiently turn the
barrels.
