History of Wurlitzer 153 Band Organ "Merry Ann"
By Dan Robinson

My thanks to Christian Tedesco for the update on the Wurlitzer Style 153
band organ "Merry Ann," now at the Retro Arcade in Wildwood, New Jersey
(MMD 2021.08.03). Christian wrote that he had expected the organ to have
come from a nearby amusement park, and there was indeed at least one 153
in Wildwood in the past, though I'm uncertain of its/their whereabouts.

The organ now there is serial #3996, originally shipped in 1927 to one
of the Gooding family's amusement outfits by way of ride manufacturer
Spillman Engineering. As of sometime last year it was privately owned in
Kentucky and was for sale. According to Christian's post, the new owner
purchased it from someone in Maryland, so perhaps there was an interim
owner for a short time.
