Wurlitzer Organs at Tom Fretty's Musical Museum
By Craig Smith

[ Ref. James Williams in 220206 MMD ]

Hi Folks, I remember well the many times that Tom came to our house
with a load of 'toys' to show and sell. I'd get a phone call the day
before he'd arrive and I'd call all the mechanical music collectors
in the area and we'd have a great time going through whatever he had
in the truck and buying stuff. Kathay would make chili for dinner and
cookies for later. Afterwards, we'd have a grand old swap meet in the
driveway. Payment was made out to "Tom's Damaged Freight".

Anyway, one year the MBSI meeting was in St. Paul and we drove down to
Iowa to see Tom and his wife. He put us up in his guest room (filled
with music machines) and we spent a great day with Tom in his museum.

He gave me one of his advertising promotion pieces: a little plastic
viewer that showed tiny slides of things in the museum. So here are
pictures of the Wurlitzer machines you asked about.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you where they are now but at least you
can look at the pictures.

Regards,
Craig Smith
