Unknown Carousel Music In Twilight Zone Episode
By Dan Robinson

Jim Leonard asks in MMD 220209 about the carousel music played in the
Twilight Zone episode "Walking Distance":

Attachment thumbnail It's the classic Strauss waltz, "Artist's Life," played by a Wurlitzer Style 165 band organ. More than likely the music was not recorded onsite but rather was a recording of either the Lincoln Park or Griffith Park 165. Both were in Los Angeles and were owned by the late Ross Davis along with their respective carousels. Back in the day Davis was the go-to guy for band organ music to be used in movies and TV shows. The Wurlitzer 165 that is heard playing E. T. Paull's "Ben Hur Chariot Race" in the Andy Griffith Show episode "Pickle Contest," posted in MMD 220110 by Cassidy Juraniec, was probably also one of the Davis 165s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vztt_lW-BGw
Attachment thumbnail Jim Leonard also asks about obtaining a copy of "Artist's Life" for the Wurlitzer Style 150 scale. The most common Style 150 roll with the tune would likely be 13176. I've suggested some possibilities to Jim off-list for borrowing or purchasing the roll for his local event. Dan Robinson Rochester, New York
