Mechanical Music (and Carousels) in the Movies
By Dan Robinson

Lee Rothrock asks in MMD 220307 about music playing in the 1947 film
"Fun on a Weekend" during a scene in which a carousel is visible in
the background: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSlaDS9Wziw&t=401s

While I can't comment on the music playing, the carousel appears to
be a Looff machine that was once at the Long Beach Pike in California.
Compare the attached screen capture with the photos on this webpage:

The carousel shown there, at least the second Looff merry-go-round to
have spun at the Pike, was dispersed in 1979 (Carousel News & Trader,
Sep. 2010, page 28). The apparent clockwise rotation of the ride in
the film was due to its reflection in the bartender's mirror.
