The best thing is nothing at all. Rolls that sit on the shelf really
don't require a rubber band.

When rolls are shipped or transported for any distance, wrap a piece
of acrylic yarn around the paper and tie with a big bow knot. You can
go around two or three times on large rolls if you wish.
