1926 Steck PEDA Expression Box Problem
By Nigel Perry

I have restored many such instruments over many years, but I am
now 84, and seem to have forgotton more than I can to admit to. There
has been a full restoration on this Aeolian player action. The pump
is delivering a good suction. But, try as I might, I can not get the
necessary suction levels, from either Treble or Bass, out of the
expression box. I am pretty sure it's me, not the box!

The first thing I need is a modern overview of the plumbing -- from
rotary switch to control box to expression ports, etc. I have all the
books, and copies of all the old diagrams, but I need a clear and
clean list of [connection] instructions: A to B, C to J, F to R, etc.

Of course, you will be saying, "Why don't you ask someone, with the
knowledge, to come and help you?" Well, I live in very rural France.
There is very little interest in France in mechanical music. It is
a big country with large travelling distances. I am a pensioner,
paying the state to look after my wife in full time care. So
there's not a lot to spare.

I have consulted AI and received some remarkable insight, but
I would like to hear from humans which, I guess are getting fewer
on the ground.

I welcome any advice and suggestions.
