Hello, Of course it's very sad that the last organ workshop in
Amsterdam, including its 150 years of history, will be lost. The
Perlee workshop is just 100 meters from our museum, right across
the street.
When we opened the Pianola Museum in 1994 it might have been possible
to sell combined tickets, but it was not possible to open the Perlee
workshop as a museum. Now we would have to spend at least 2 million
euros to buy the premises and the collection, which is of course far
beyond our reach.
The city of Amsterdam has no interest at all in preserving this unique
piece of history. Our museum is still struggling for survival against
the city of Amsterdam which owns our museum buidling. More than 7,000
people have signed our petition, but the city authorities are totally
indifferent.
