PPCo's Attitude?
By John A. Tuttle

I have just a couple of things to say about the Player Piano Co. and attitudes in general.

First and foremost, as of this date, I know of NO other source on the planet that has the parts AND expertise that Durrell has, and for that I am grateful. I shall rue the day he goes out of business.

Professionally speaking, PPCo has stood behind every product they sell and made good on every defective product that was returned. And they paid the return postage.

Personally speaking, I'm amazed by the harsh words concerning something as trivial as phone manners. While it is in a companies best interest to be polite and courteous, it is rarely a mark of the company itself.

Having dealt with most, if not all, of the major wholesalers in our trade, I rate PPCo in the top two in promptness, thoroughness, attitude and, most importantly, the ability to talk directly with the owner in less than thirty seconds (even if he's napping). (NO Robbie.. that's not your cue to emphasize the importance of time! ;-) In fact, I don't remember ever being put on hold unless I wanted to speak to someone else in the company. Did you ever try to talk to Don Dolan by calling QRS? Ha! What a laugh.

Finally, over the years I've developed an attitude when placing phone calls. I arm myself with a few recent jokes or sayings I've heard. I believe that if I'm going to accomplish any task efficiently and pleasantly I must be prepared for adversity. Then, if and when it comes, I'm ready and everything's fine. Just my opinion.

(Three Cheers for Durrell Armstrong. Hip-hip ... Hip-hip ... Hip-hip! )
