Removing Watermarks on Old Finishes
By Craig Brougher

Mr. A. B. Bonds asks how to remove watermarks. Very simple. If they will come out at all, do this:Dampen a rag with shellac thinner (alcohol). Without touching the finish, get the rag within a 1/16" of the finish (or closer) and slowly move it in a circular pattern, "painting" the watermark with the fumes from the rag. The alcohol fumes will penetrate the varnish (if that is what it is)and will remove the trapped moisture immediately. Works like magic!

And by the way, your valves are coming along nicely. Won't be long, now!
