I've been mulling over the replies that have come in so far and
have decided to stick my neck out a little.  I like "Mechanical" as
a preferable replacement for "Automatic", and MMD as a consequence is
not a common set of initials.  It is the initials of the ruling party
in Zambia, so I don't know what implications that might have...  I've
not been able to find out what the letters mean.

As an experiment to get the "feel", I've labelled this Digest "Mechanical
Music Digest".
