Friends in New Jersey are trying to sell an 88-note Lauter Humana
mahogany upright pumper that's been sitting in their parents' house for
40-odd years or so. The player mechanism is non-functional, but to their
knowledge, it's never been worked on, and is complete. The piano hasn't
been tuned (or played) for at least a couple decades.
The finish is original and has alligatoring, but no missing veneer.
Ivory keys are intact, with a few small chips at edge of a couple of
them. The good news is that it's been located on the first floor of the
house the entire time, and never subjected to garage or basement
temperature fluctuations.
Not having seen it, I told them that they might be able to get USD 200 to
400 for it, but they are very open to any offer. They need it out of
the house in the next month or so, since the house is being sold. You'd
have to move it yourself, but it's on the first floor!
The piano is located in Bernardsville, NJ. If anyone is interested in an
inexpensive piano, prime for restoration, please call:
Ken O'Donnel & Becky Senior, tel: 908-788-0640
Oh, yes...I've already put "dibs" on the rolls!
