Hi again,  It's like Hal Davis said, all style band organs sound
different.  That goes for other makes as well.  I heard two style 146
band organs made by North Tonawanda Musical Instrument Works, and they
both sound different.  The same applies to Artizan AX2C's: they all
don't sound the same.

Hal has a particular point on Wurlitzer organs, however.  The three
Monsters built by DeKleist and Wurlitzer all sound unusually different.
I don't believe it to be in the voicing, but in the way the pipes were
made.  I have recordings of Dr. Black's, Kit Carson's in Colorado and
mine, and all seem to be off in one way or another.  I tried tuning mine
to either one and I have come up empty handed.  I guess I will have to
settle for the happy medium.

As for using theatre organ pipes in a band organ, why not!  I was
missing 13 bass pipes in the Monster that I got, so I acquired 13
theatre organ pipes, got them tuned up to A-436 one note lower from G,
now all that is left is to tune the trombone section and voila, the
most beautiful music on earth.  Sometimes I think the organ has been a
pain in my side, but after all the work I have done to it, maybe it is
all worth it.
