Mystery 'O' Roll
By Ed Sprankle

When I quickly scanned the inquiry subject I thought Mystery O'Roll
was a great subject since it showed up on St. Patrick's Day.

The mystery roll was a recut offered by Powell/Malone Associates in
1973. Their catalog listed the source roll as Automatic O-113. It
offered these 10 tunes: 1) Then I'll Be Happy; 2) Paddelin' Madeline;
3) Down By the Winegar Woiks (sic); 4) I Never Knew; 5) I Wonder Where
My Baby . ..; 6) 5' 2; 7) Aint She Sweet; 8) Mary Lou; 9) Spanish
Shawl; 10) Don't Wait 2 Long.

Paul Gottschalk's recut catalog circa 1981 also identifies it as
'O-113', but says it as 'a composite' (a recut with tunes selected from
two or more other original rolls). In either case, _don't_ assume that
Automatic O-113 is the correct original number AND tune list or whether
it is a copy of an original or a composite.

But anyway, there are the missing titles and we see that the tune
lineup is the same from the two catalog listings.

Happy St. Patrick's day to all MMD readers.
