Piano Veneers
By Damon Atchison

I saw some various samples of rare wood last night at a friend's house
(who is a woodworker) and he showed me purple-heart and tulip-wood. The
purple-heart was the most fascinating. It was a naturally purple wood,
which grows in South America and is used for fence posts and railroad
ties down there! It's one of the less costly exotic woods. It comes
from a huge tree.

Were there ever any pianos which were made with purple-heart or
tulip-wood as a veneer?
