Once again I recommend a product called Feather Fill for painting
pitted metal surfaces such as piano plates or old rusted cars.  This
is a Bondo-like material for the spray gun and sands well.  This is
a primer and then bronzing powder mixed in clear lacquer can be sprayed
to produce a beautiful finish.
