It's about time I started a musical box string, so here goes.

I have just acquired an empty case for a music box.  It was a key-wound
box and has a nice engraved brass tune sheet listing the 4 tunes and
has the name Francois Nicole.  There are no numbers on the brass, but
on the base of the box are the numbers 178(?) and 22.

However, the end flap is on the right hand side.  All the boxes I have
seen have the key holes on the left with just a few later examples
where the ratchet is on the right.  Also the end flap can be locked
as well as the lid.

I don't suppose for one minute that anyone has a movement to fit the
box.  I looked on the MBSGB register list and there are only about a
dozen F. Nicole boxes listed, but how many are wound on the right hand
side?
