Music for Villa d'Este Water Organ Replica
By Richard Stibbons

An acquaintance has recently completed construction of a full scale
replica of the water organ which used to grace the gardens of the Villa
d'Este in Italy.

The instrument is entirely water powered and is in a magnificent
setting surrounded by statues, fountains and cascades. The organ itself
is operated by means of a commercially produced 36-key fairground organ
(band organ) mechanism, and the only remaining problem is to acquire a
collection of appropriate music.

Haydn, Mozart and many others composed specifically for this type of
instrument, and we would be interested to learn of any supplier of book
music who might have some suitable pieces in their repertoire. Failing
that, I understand there is some software around which simplifies the
production home made book music.

Any information would be most welcome, including details of similar
projects or any other comments regarding other instruments of this
type.
