Gluing the skin side of leather with hot hide glue should not be
a problem.  It is true that this glue will hold less well than on
the "flesh" side, but it is holding well enough for its purpose.
Keep the glue hot and runny!  I have never seen a loose valve facing
glued this way, so don't worry.
