Piano Movers: Bekins Van Lines
By Bill Chapman

My experience with Bekins (a big name on the West Coast) was less
than satisfactory. The driver/operator nearly broke the stack by
cinching down a strap, left the piano in the rain, opened the pizza
box on top of the piano. He was loaded on cocaine most of the day.
I guess I'm qualified to say that as, among my duties as a social
services supervisor, I was coordinating treatment for drug users.

Curiously, the Bekins ad in the phone book states "expert piano
movers". After a law suit most of the damages were recovered. There
was almost no contest from their lawyer. After some initial protest,
they opted to pay rather than send a lawyer to court.
