Value of Seeburg KT
By Roger Hughes

Hello again Everyone, regarding Terry Smythe's price report on the
Seeburg KT at the eBay auction.

Along with the $14,500 paid, there was also an additional 20% buyer's
premium (buyers penalty?) added to the final price, which put the
total at around $17,400.

This KT with xylophone had been listed on eBay about eight times in
the past year. I had spoken with the owner a few months ago. The
instrument was definitely unrestored and not working correctly. The
credit unit had problems, the traps were not working, the motor was a
modern day replacement, the coin slot had been modified for a dime, and
someone had nailed a 3-inch brass strip all along the torn-up lower
cabinet edge. Talk about auction fever!

I have compiled a list of Seeburg K's and KT's for sale around the
country this past year. I have found them priced from $8500 (for a bad
KT with a homemade cabinet) to an overly optimistic dealer's $20,000.
The average going price right now seems to be $15,000 for a fully
restored, unaltered KT.

Regards,
Roger Hughes
